Pacific Northwest Biodiversity And Conservation Program

California's marine ecosystems are rich in biodiversity, but they face significant threats. The Pacific Northwest Biodiversity and Conservation Program aims to educate students about the importance of these ecosystems and engage them in conservation efforts.

In collaboration with the Marine Protected Areas Collaborative, our program will focus on California Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), exploring their biodiversity and cultural significance. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to participate hands-on in the sea urchin removal project along the Mendocino coast of California.

Through this project, students will learn about the ecological importance of managing sea urchin populations and the impact of their overgrazing on kelp forests. By actively participating in the removal of excess sea urchins, students will contribute directly to the restoration of these vital marine habitats.

Our donation program aims to support 4 groups of 20 students each to participate in the Pacific Northwest Biodiversity and Conservation Program every September. Each program has a duration of 4 days in total.

We believe that experiential learning is essential for fostering a deeper understanding of biodiversity conservation. Our program provides students with the opportunity to engage directly with marine ecosystems, inspiring them to become stewards of our oceans for future generations.
