Our Fundraising Initiatives
Hawaiian Islands Ocean and Climate Education Program
The Hawai‘i Ocean and Climate Education Program is a locally focused educational initiative that connects youth with the unique marine biodiversity of the Hawaiian Islands and the urgent realities of climate change. Led by Nature and Oceans Adventures (NOA), the program blends field-based learning with cultural and ecological knowledge, offered at no cost to local students through the NOA Fund.
Participants begin their experience with workshops on climate change, sea level rise, and the ecological importance of the Pacific Ocean. Hawaii's island ecosystems are home to some of the world’s most unique marine species and are highly vulnerable to climate impacts such as coral bleaching and coastal erosion.
A highlight of the program is a guided visit to the NOAA Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, where students learn about marine conservation research and the annual humpback whale migration to Hawaiian waters. These expert-led sessions deepen students' understanding of marine life cycles, ocean currents, and the role Hawai‘i plays in global conservation.
Field excursions include beach and reef exploration, citizen science surveys, and discussions with local marine biologists and cultural practitioners. Students also participate in small-scale coastal clean-ups, reinforcing the connection between community action and ocean health.

Our goal is to reach 500 students annually across the islands, expand ocean science education, and build a strong foundation for climate resilience rooted in local knowledge and environmental stewardship.
By supporting this program, donors help foster a generation of ocean-minded youth committed to protecting Hawaii's rich biodiversity and cultural heritage. Your contribution funds transportation, educational materials, clean-up supplies, and access to expert-led experiences for students across the state.
